  1. I love both of these suggestions. Thanks so much! I'm going to see about a reservation @ Zuni since I love the idea of abundant root vegetables.
  2. I'm looking for some recommendations: I'll be in SF in December and am looking for someplace utterly delicious for a decadent lunch with one hitch: we'll have a six month old baby with us. My friend and I are staying in Nob Hill but we're both very familiar with the city and won't mind traveling a bit.
  3. I was in Rome last year and Dar Poeta was my favorite restaurant, hands down. The ricotta + nutella calzone was one of the best things I've ever ever ever eaten.
  4. Kotobuki, my favorite place for inexpensive sushi is closed on Mondays. A friend suggested Sakana as an alternative. Nice space, fine service and good prices. We had my try-out-a-new-place list: tuna, salmon, yellowtail and tomago, plus a couple of rolls. Everything was good, and the salmon was great. It wasn't at the level of the finer places around town, but it's definitely more convenient to where I live than Kotobuki and it was good for a casual dinner.
  5. My parents are in town tonight and I want to take them to Ray's, where I've also never been. My mom has a physical condition that makes it difficult for her to stand for more than a few minutes and I know Ray's doesn't take reservations. Anyone know if there's a particular time we should head there that'll leave us with a shorter wait? Or should we try to get there to add our names to the list early on? Or, even better, does anyone know if they'll hold a table for someone who's not physically able to wait on line?
  6. I'm headed to Pho Hot tonight for dinner. I called to find out what time they close and based on the answer, 11:30, I'm concerned we had a communication issue. Anyone know what time they really close? This is Annandale...
  7. I've got plans to go to Buck's tonight. Haven't been before. I'm currently off of all dairy, including butter per doctor's orders (my infant son gets sick when I consume any). Will I be able to find anything to eat there or should I suggest an alternate restaurant to my dining companions?
  8. I was walking by Mint yesterday and was hungry and thirsty enough to be a-ok with $8 for a smoothie. Got the Aphrodisiac, which had strawberries, ginger, raw honey, almond milk and maca powder. It was excellent. I'd almost go so far as to say it was $8 worth of goodness. If it were $5 or $6, though, I might go get another today, but at that price I'll only go when the need strikes hard. Still... it was yummy.
  9. Can Busboys & Poets fit that many? The food there is kinda eh these days but the drinks are good and the space is gorgeous and fun. My employer has had our holiday party there the past two years and it worked really well. I'm guessing we had ~150 people, but that's just a guess.
  10. Leopold's Kafe on Cady's Alley has gorgeous pastry. I love the apple strudel.
  11. For a local selection, The Diner in Adams Morgan has a grilled cheese section on their menu for the past year or so. Pretty good stuff.
