Not hazy at all. You are 100% accurate. I know because my mom was a server there for many years. I think it was off Commerce St. , across the street from where the Toys R Us was.

If you are a BBQ fan, you really need to make the trip out to try it. I've been once, and had the brisket platter and asked for the fatty side. Extremely tender and smoked with care. Not a lot of bark on it, so it's nothing like the brisket at Texas Jacks in Arlington which I like very much. They have piles of wood stacked to the right of the entrance, so it was a great sign. Service was great as well and they provided some free samples of chicken and sausage. Give em a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Has anyone tried Della J's Delectables yet? Looks like they opened in the Fall 2017. Located in the small strip across the street from 5 Guys on Backlick. A family run Southern/Soul Food joint that is getting some good reviews on Google/Yelp. I'm intrigued. http://www.dellajsdelectables.com/home/

Was there this past Friday night after 9 PM. I'm usually someone who gets the same dish once I find one because I hate to run the risk of disappointment, but with Afghan it is different. I almost go out of my way to try new dishes because everything has been very good to great. @thistle, had the cold yogurt soup and it was very refreshing. It's a fairly large bowl, so you get a good portion. It's cool, not too thick or too runny, slivers of cucumber and a good helping of dill gives this appetizer a clean fresh start to your meal. Great on a hot summer day. They have new menus, and some of their specials in the past have become staples. For my entree, I had the beef filled dumplings that was topped with black beans, chickpeas, and a few other toppings I can't remember. Loved the dish. Glad to hear on expansion for them but nervous the quality may suffer. Definitely the best restaurant in Springfield.

As someone who grew up and still lives in Springfield, I was sort of shocked that 1) Sietsma did a review of a strip restaurant on Alban RD, and 2) how come I have not been here before! Here is all you really need to know. Just go and try it. The food is amazing. The service is friendly and warm. It's run by a family. As Tony Kornheiser would say, that's it... that's the list. Had the Chicken Luwaan (sp?) which was chicken served over basmati rice. The chicken was extremely tender, and the sauce it was accompanied with was outstanding.

Count me in the camp that enjoys GAR restaurants for the most part. Mike's has been proudly serving Springfield for decades, and I'm glad it is still thriving after all these years. Parking is an issue. If it's busy, and it often is, you'll have to park across the street.

Echoing the statements about the Xinjiang Style Pork Ribs, though I did notice they have gone up in price by $2, still highly worth the $17. I don't think I've ever had a dish like it. The coating is a thin dusting of corn starch. The ribs are precooked (steamed) and most likely marinated. The crunchy hash that is scattered over the 8 ribs is a mix of carrots, green onion, scallions, crushed peanuts, garlic, sesame seeds, cumin and I think some red onion. They do not have a large wait staff, so if the place is busy, expect slower service. The scallion pancakes are very good. Best eaten right after they have been served, as they are warm, slightly crunch, but with a good flaky texture inside, which means they are rolling the pancakes correctly, a technique that involves rolling the pancakes into pinwheels and then flattening them out. While the menu doesn't clearly state this, nor did I see them making the noodles, the server said their noodles in their hot soups are hand pulled. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the broth is a hearty brew. Not overly salty, a good balance and nice on a cold day. The amount of noodles they give you is beyond what any normal human could eat. I could barely eat half of the noodles, but I must admit to eating half of the scallion pancakes, so that probably had something to do with it The beef were slices of beef, most likely cuts from top blade steak. You could see the connective tissue that runs down the middle of the meat. But it has been stewed for a while so it is not chewy at all. This monstrous bowl of soup was priced at $9. So go ahead and take a chance on Dumpling Queen, it won't require a lot of Money, Money, Money, and some guy named Fernando recommended it over Mamma Mia.

Curious if anyone here has tried this restaurant in Tysons? It is in the same space where Konami used to be, right on Rt. 7 very close to a BP gas station, down a block from the Olive Garden. You don't see too many Ramen places in Northern VA. Feedback from some other sites is generally mixed and wondering if anyone here has thoughts. Thanks!

Went there for Fathers Day for lunch and this was the first time my family got to experience this restaurant. Family is from Taiwan, and my father was pretty impressed by the food, menu, and decor. Said the restaurant is one of the few in Northern VA that can compete with highly regarded Chinese restaurants that are mostly in the Rockville area. We had 6-7 dishes, but ordered mostly from the Chinese menu. The Mapo Tofu was excellent, and one of the better versions I've had. Tofu was silky and we asked them to lower the heat on it since we had some children dining at the table with us. Beef on skewer was delicious, and had a nice texture to it. Kung Pao Chicken.. slightly spicy with sweet notes in the water chestnuts. Green beans w/pork - not greasy, tender green beans cooked very well. I think the lunch was a hit with the family, and I know we will go back to try the hot pot and some other items from the chinese menu especially their whole fish specialties. The table next to us did order the soft shell turtle soup... Very happy to have given it a try, and will be back for more!

Not surprised to hear about the CM3 in Vienna. I was there about 1.5 months ago, and when I left I thought to myself, I'm never going back. Why, when for 2 dollars more, I get a much better lunch buffet experience from Handi in Falls Church. The food has been slipping. I felt the location of CM3 was a mistake as that strip mall doesn't get the same type of traffic compared to 123/Main Street areas.

This is now open. I think it's been open for two weeks now. We ordered a large white pizza, and a batch of their wings. The wings are cooked in their oven, so they are not fried. Nor are they sauced with any type of dressing so it's not buffalo wings. They are served with carmelized onions. Wife and I didn't really enjoy the wings. Bland/dry, and the onions were tasteless IMO. The pizza was solid. The crust has a good chew. It's not a cracker type crust, and it wasn't soggy either. I'll go back to try a different pie. I felt their pasta's looked a tad over priced.

A group of 4 had dinner there about a month ago. They have extended their hours now to 8 PM Monday -Friday (kitchen closes at 7:45). We tried their wings, calamari and fried popcorn crawfish as starters. I wasn't too impressed with the starters. The crawfish and calamari were underwhelming. The batter was light, airy, but that was about all I could taste. While I enjoyed the taste of the wings, I didn't care for the texture. I suppose I was expecting something fried, and these were more of a boiled wing tossed in a lemongrass type of sauce. Flavorful, tender, but no crunch. If you like that style, you will probably like the wings. Shrimp Po Boy was very good, and this was ordered by someone who grew up in the New Orleans area. Good sized shrimp, and the liked the roll it was served on. I had a catfish special that was very good. Not too spicy, served with a crawfish gumbo topping and rice. Overall, it's a good place to visit. It's small, but then again it's off the beaten path and not open on the weekends so I don't think finding a table will be hard. If you like spicy food, I would definitely recommend.
