  1. My fellow rockwellians! Alas I must regretfully withdraw my tomato bisque moule soup with herb toast from the Great Soup Exchange of 2010. I have recently contracted a nasty bugger that has taken a lot out of my otherwise happy, healthy disposition and left me weak and dispirited (I'm sick with a nasty virus). So have fun, and I can't wait to read about how it went. And maybe even get some of the recipes???
  2. I love this idea. I'd like to participate and bring Roasted Tomato Bisque with Herb Toasts. I'm considering adding mussels and would be open to making this non-vegan by adding mussels or some other shellfish.
  3. Wish I could say my dining experience matched the write-ups...After reading the reviews last night I ventured out in the freezing weather to Thai Basil and was deeply disappointed. The filling in the Golden Cups appetizer was cold, the Tom Yam Gai soup was neither spicy nor tasty, and the Pad Thai with chicken, beef, and pork was exceptionally awful. Did I miss something? I'm really reticent to be critical and in 30 years of eating out I've only sent 1 dish back, but Thai Basil was a bust.
  4. I look forward to reading your posts. My dad grew up on a farm in North Carolina, and I spent many summers down there working the tobacco fields for pay and potato fields for food. Now that I'm 45 years old, live in surburbia WDC, I long for time spent on the land. Thanks for taking time to do this.
  5. I agree about the service at J & G. From the moment I walked in until I left, it was impeccable service. The drink recommendations and food recommendations were spot on with the food we ordered. My compliments to the team there and I highly recommend the restaurant.
  6. I'm a foodie-wanna-be... and where I am in life is that food is either fuel or something to be experienced...I've eaten my share of fuel, and now I'd like to eat an experience. Can't wait to find out about places to go, especially the "way-off-the-beaten-path" joints
