  1. Ren's Ramen at Daruma in Bethesda is hands-down the best in the DC area.
  2. Hi everyone, new participant, and Glover Park resident, David King here. GP is a great neighborhood getting better every time a new restaurant opens up. Most of our family's $ are spent at Surfside, Sushi-ko, Rocklands, Kavanaugh's and the tea and dumpling house. But Bourbon and Town Hall and Heritage are also great places. I work at the National Press Club, a private club for journalists. While we're a private club we have a huge volume of non-members coming through our facility for the various meetings, press conferences, receptions, weddings and such. But we also have a public restaurant called the Fourth Estate, which is the part pertinent to this group. We suffer from being hidden on the 13th floor of the Press Building but don't suffer from a lack of reasonably priced good food and wine. I've always liked the atmosphere, especially on a sunny day because we're on the top of the building and the windows of the restaurant are just below the building's atrium skylights. We've participated in Restaurant Week for the last four years and have had great crowds all week. We're one of the few that makes essentially the entire menu available for the promotion. We're at 14th and F, 2 blocks from Metro Center and serve lunch Monday through Friday, Brunch on Saturday and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Also good, we're mere blocks from the Warner, National, E Street and Ford's theaters. The menu is new American in orientation and uses a great deal of produce from the Chesapeake watershed. The manager of the restaurant, Tim Galvin, is a member of the Court of Master Sommeliers and holds a bachelors degree from the CIA making him a knowledgeable guide for your experience. The restaurant is on OpenTable for reservation convenience (and currently giving 1,000 points for a dinner reservation). We host frequent author wine dinners and have one coming May 26 with James Oseland, editor-in-chief of Saveur Magazine. These are dinners where we serve the guest's favorite recipes matched with the perfect wine. Attendees also get to meet and ask questions of the special guest. Thanks for listening and I hope you take the opportunity to give us a try soon! (Almost forgot, we have a private room, too!)
