  1. We stopped by at 7:30 and 8:30 last night and there wasn't a seat free either time. Rather than waiting we ended up going home with a couple bottles of wine (High Def Riesling, and La Bastide Saint Dominique Les Argiles Rouges) , the Drunken Goat Cheese, Smoked Prosciutto, and Onion Confit. Everything was spectacular! I will certainly be going back (hopefully when there are a few seats free). Congrats on a wonderful place Wendy!
  2. First, thanks Don and Brian for putting on this event! It was my first dr.com event and I'm looking forward to the picnic on Sunday. I always love going to R3, but this was the first time I've had the chance to try all of the appetizers. The wine and Beer list is wonderful, and you can't beat the 2006 Stag's Leap Petite Syrah for $30! On to the starters: 1. I've had the Southern Fried Oysters a couple times now and I absolutely love them every time; I think everyone there agreed with this. 2. The Scallops and Grits were probably the #2 dish of the night 3. Bleu Cheese Chips - You had to eat them right away before the chips got soggy from the cheese, but I would certainly eat them again. 4. Risotto tater tots - My fiancee gets these every time we go to R3; I think the best part is the dipping sauces they come with. 5. Fried Green Tomatoes - Last time I was at R3 with a vegetarian friend he ordered these and loved them; last night I enjoyed them, but the tomato slices were a little thin so the breading overpowered the tomato. All in all it was a great night and now I've got a few more starters I know I'll enjoy the next time I go to R3. Again, thanks Don and Brian!
  3. I'll be there +1 bringing Rosemary crackers with goat cheese and sausage hors d'oeuvres. Probably a bottle of wine as well.
  4. Went to 3 last night and had a rather disappointing meal (I've been there twice before and absolutely loved it). I had the Southern Fried Oysters followed by the Roasted Short Ribs and the Bourbon Pecan Pie to finish it off; my friend (a vegetarian) had the Fried Green Tomatoes, Vegetarian Lasagna, and finished with the Cobbler. The Oysters and Fried Tomatoes were both wonderful and I would order either of them again in a heart beat. The short ribs were served with pan fried grits and a "watermelon salsa", but there was so little of the salsa that the whole plate was just too dense. I was looking forward to the pecan pie, unfortunately it was more of a dry brownie with pecans and some caramel on top (a major let down). My friend said he loved the lasagna though, which I didn't try. So all said I still love 3, but I'll be staying away from the short ribs and desserts next time I go.
  5. Greetings, I moved to DC from California a little over a year ago and just heard about this site from a foodie friend of mine. I love eating, cooking, and gardening and look forward to learning about all the great things DC has. ~Scott
