I went to Oyster Oyster in December and really loved a dish with beets in it. The server mentioned that they were a special variety called "badger flame beets" and they were available locally, but I haven't had any luck. Has anyone seen them in stores in the DC metro area?

Has anyone been to Alchemist in Tyson’s? It has the same branding as one in Idaho but I see no mention of that location in their site. -

A lot of recipes call for blooming the peppercorns in oil and then topping with fresh. With that approach you can get both flavors (like raw/cooked garlic)

I went there before heading to a winter lights thingy around New Years. They were super nice and I really liked the food! I took the pan puri to eat later at home and that was the best part. I ordered the recommended burrito and shared it with a friend--it was very filling.

I've thoroughly enjoyed everything I've had from them, though since they are a small local shop they often are pre-order only on Sundays. I hope that this means they are doing well and will have more stock for walk-ins! Rosie is so inventive and caring.

I'm heading to SD at the end of the month and will do some more research on Callie, Fort Oak, Herb & Wood, and Karina's (Karina's Cantina in Gaslamp, right?). Any good coffee places? I've only seen Portal Coffee and Dark Horse Coffee Roasters mentioned. Also looking for other things to do besides a Padres game and the Zoo. We'll be there 4 days.
