  1. I am anxiously awaiting confirmation of the return of the "Devilishly Good Eggs" with the steak tartare. Any reports of it back on the menu?
  2. Now being called "Jackson's Mighty Fine Food", named after GAR's corporate exec chef of 18 years Bill Jackson. I cannot wait for this to open. Click Looks like Reston Town Center is getting some much needed new restaurants.
  3. I had my first experience at Komi last week, also for a special occasion. I too ordered the corn raviolli with langoustine and black truffles. Umm... yea, wow. Derek was wonderful as well, and it was quite possibly the best meal I've ever had.
  4. Stopped by yesterday, overall- great cheese pizza. Still working out a few kinks though. I like to have my NY Slices baked with the toppings from the start. Vienna's NYSPBTS, they make just plain cheese pizzas, then add toppings to individual slices during the "reheating minute." Tony's in Fair Lakes has the full spread of pizzas to ohhh and ahhh at.
  5. The fries are Poste are amazing. Adding truffle oil to anything equals instant goodness.
  6. Zola has an entire lounge for rent, complete with upper balcony, called "Eyes Only" It's a very cool space, but books out way early.
  7. Obviously, I was clearly wrong in my assessment of this situation. It was just something that had taken me by suprise, as I have never seen this in a restaurant before. Apologies to anyone offended, of course everyone is welcome at Notti. -j
  8. Oh please, for the love of God, stay away from Fat Tuesday's. If you find yourself eating there, make sure you're up to date will all your shots and vaccinations. For Italian, Dolce Vita in the City of Fairfax does a nice job. The Bombay Club (obviously Indian) has a nice dinner buffet. And of course, the Great American chain- with Arties in Fairfax Circle, and Coastal Flats in Fairfax Corner would be worth checking out. Cheers, -j
  9. Cause i'd expect better from 2941... I would be shocked if they were the guilty party.
  10. Ahh, a true who-dun-it?... The detective in me kicks in. The posted headline is Chez Sorry in Northern Virginia. A drive back to DC was also mentioned, which would lead one to believe that the motivation of the Virginia visit was for the restaurant itself. A destination restaurant perhaps. And one that offers free valet, with a good wine list- hmm. When I think free valet, my first guess goes to the restaurants at Tysons 2... but that doesn't explain a trip to Tysons- as they're plenty of Daily Grill's, Maggiano's and Legal Sea Foods in DC (nor are they destination restaurants.) So my guess would be Kinkead's Colvin Run... an off night perhaps, or a new server who's clearly not ready for the floor. Better luck next time! Cheers, -j
  11. I wonder how much of this thread is true "comfort dishes" or just "hmm... you know what would be really good right now?" I guess I could answer Yes and Yes to mine. A cinnabon (it's like sex on a plate) with a starbucks gingerbread latte (they just got them in.) cheers, -j
  12. Tastee Diner is a Bethesda institution. A few bucks will go a looooooong way, and i've always been happy- and quite full after my breakfasts there. www.tasteediner.com Cheers, -j Jason Gabriel Mandel Assistant General Manger- Notti Bianche, Italian Trattoria
  13. Costco is good, because you know exactly what your getting- and it's a value for the money. The problem is, guests frequently recognize platters from Costco (I can't remember how many events i've been to with the signature Costco tortilla/turkey sliced wrap up.) I'm not sure where your located, but Balducci's (formerly Sutton Place Gourmet) does a wonderful job with platters. They have several locations around metro dc, and the chef's there are pretty flexible when it comes to catering/party platters. Wegman's is also worth checking out, as it is the "costco of supermarkets"- no membership card required though. www.balduccis.com www.wegmans.com *** First time poster here, thanks for welcoming me to your forum~ Cheers, -j Jason Gabriel Mandel Assistant General Manager- Notti Bianche, Italian Trattoria
