  1. Sobe/rock n raw/ etc are owned by Mr days. Mad rose is owned by a diff group. Bronx pizza by A-town who owns primetime in Fairfax. The address for that complex is 3100 but they are all suites. I never understood why days doesn't use the so be space to its potential. Could fit a lot of drunk bros in there.
  2. Seanmike that's a valid point I never considered. Of course I make bartenders choice cocktails half the time so I'd consider it in the moment but on a menu citrus and syrup free is a good call.
  3. Don, eat the rich is on my radar. My time off is rare, but next day I have I'll get there.
  4. Today someone asked for a smokey rye based cocktail with balance. I went with 2 oz of high west double rye, .5 oz amaro nonino, .5 oz cocchi Americano rouge. Stirred very cold and finished with a flamed orange thumb, and flamed angostura bitters. I taste tested it. The nonino and cocchi added some bitter sweet notes balancing out the rye, the double flame up the smoke anti without over blowing the balance. A new drink has been named for her,"The Perfect Lady." For 12 bucks I think it's a steal.
  5. To start, limited disclosure. I work at a bar in DC. I run a bar program. I'm not mentioning names or promoting myself or my place of employ. I simply would love feedback and a sort of virtual brainstorming session with the similarly food beverage aware folks of DR. Disclosure aside, what do you seek in a handcrafted cocktail? Balanced flavors enhancing the base spirits nuances? Over the top, in your face house infused spirits with house syrups/ sodas/ juices? Simple but innovative spins on classic cocktails? Something else? Also, considering the movement towards house syrups, infusions, fresh juices, odd ingredients, what's a fair price on the DC market for a cocktail? Please any thoughts or insight. -iceman
  6. Public house 7, an authentic British pub in the seven corners intersection of falls church, seeks experienced bartenders and servers. We are a authentic British pub with 7-8 British and British favorite beers on tap, and British fare from pub grub to proper food. Featuring a quiet dining room and outdoor patio on the route 7 side and a large pub and bar with a patio on the rear of the building, there is plenty of seating and space. We feature a strong group of loyal and dedicated regular customers from our neighborhood, as well as many first time visitors thirsty for a real British pub experience. Entertainment is robust with live local music nearly every day of the week, monthly karaoke nights, bi monthly cask beer events, and a very popular Tuesday pub quiz trivia night. If interested please stop by Tuesday-Friday between 2 and 4 pm and ask to speak with the bar manager. Mention you've seen us on don rocks as well. Thank you.
  7. The white wine you referenced is falerio - a mixture up Trebbiano, passerina and peccorino grapes, along with a smaller percentage of mixing grapes. It's a deliciously mineral food wine!
  8. I never realized they did this - You better believe I'm in for one today around mid afternoon. There's nothing like breakfast for lunch! The Roast beef and cheddar here is to DIE FOR. It's so good and worth every penny.
  9. If it's any consolation - I believe the mezzanine level that will be available for private parties is going to be called "the trophy room."
  10. I got a chance to pop in here Monday night briefly and have a drink. The original space is almost unchanged, but they've opened it up a bit so it can seat more diners. The middle space has a huge bar, loungey-couch areas, and a dart room in the back. The area closest to Eventide has 3 pool tables, 2 shuffleboard tables, a couple of video games, and a few tables. Definitely a huge space, with tons of TV's for the sports fans. The menu is pretty much the same with some additions - I was always a fan of the menu, as it is not typical bar fare. Happy hour specials seemed to be very aggressive, but I did not take note of all of them. It will be interesting to see whether this place loads up on weekends - I bet it could.
  11. I'm Matthew - I live in Arlington, and love great meals, and great wine. I work part-time at the LIberty Tavern to help feed my addiction. I hope to contribute significantly on this site.
