  1. Great Doorbuster on Kilda Chardonnay at Arrowinde today!

  2. Always planning the next meal, what's life without good food and better wine?

  3. Falls Church Restaurants: - 2941 for a total splurge, had lunch there in early November and it was better than ever. - Pizzeria Orso, doing a great job, real Neapolitan style pizza from former pizza chef at 2 Amys. Sides (had good quality lomo with perfectly grilled bread, risotto balls) are also good. - District Taco - yeah! it's open on Lee Hwy - welcome addition - pollo asado, carnitas and carne asada were on offer when I went with the family last Saturday. Chicken and Carnitas better than the carne asada, which was a bit tough. Tortillas and salsas excellent. Everything well seasoned and tasty! I know this is Arlington, but close enough... - Dogfish Head Alehouse - not for the food, because the portions are just ridiculously large - but all the Dogfish Head beers on tap are lovingly served by a good crew of bartenders. Great local for a good beer!
  4. Siroc on Wedesday night was good - agnolotti with braised short-ribs/potato filling, parmesan and a stock like sauce made from the braising liquids. Good, if simple arugula salad. Dining companions also enjoyed their pasta choices and one order of the beef tenderloin, prepared rare as requested. And a charming Brazillian waitress who made everything taste better! I also think their wine list is interesting and reasonably priced. I was the lucky guest of my main vendor, so they were happy to spring for a bottle of the GAJA Ca'Marcanda from Maremma. Very tasty and the Falanghina that proceeded it was nice as well. Dinng companions were all pleased and I think it was still a better call than DC Coast!
  5. Hello, My name is Jim Arnold - not in the indusry, but have been wining and dining for many years. Cooking at home, eating well out and drinking good wine everywhere are pretty high up on the list! Saw the blurb in the Post food section today - looking forward to joining. Tried Yelp, but the anonymous postings and rantings of, shall we say, the less sophisticated and experienced diners grew old fast. Some recent good dining experiences: 2941, Estadia, BlackSalt, Rasika - none disappointed! Heading to dinner tonight at Siroc after convincing our dininig companions that DC Coast was not the place to go. We'll see! cheers, Jim
