Hat Trick

Hat Trick (4/123)

  1. Been over a year since I've been to Mia's, but I'll never go back. Prices are ridiculous for ordinary pizza. Ordered tomatoes on a pizza as a topping and instead of slices, got TWO grape tomatoes cut in half. What a joke. Pathetically few limp onions, too. When I complained in writing, the owner said she'd send me a gift certificate to compensate. I'm still waiting. Much better off at Pete's New Haven Style Apizza. It's worth the drive to Friendship Heights.
  2. Have been searching for a place in the DC area with consistently good ribs & pulled pork; a place that understands what low and slow means. Good sides are a bonus but not a deal breaker. Don't care about ambience. Have tried the following places which have either not impressed at all or have been too inconsistent to make me want to return a 3rd or 4th time- Red Hot & Blue, Rocklands, Urban Cowboy, Old Glory, Capital Q, Backyard Barbecue, KBQ, Chuck's Wagon. The former Mighty Midget Kitchen in Leesburg, now as Paeonian Springs Gourmet, is great but I don't really want to drive an hour and a half each way. Is Johny Boy's in La Plata worth the trip?
  3. Saturday night in Bethesda can be a problem. It's been awhile, but last time I dined at Passage To India the service was incredibly slow and the food ordinary. Nice ambience in the dining room though. It was on a Saturday night and the place was dead- always a bad sign. Mon Ami is a waste of time. I recently had dinner at Bistro LaZeez and had a very good meal, but 10 people will almost fill that little place. Been to Jaleo many times and enjoyed most of them but 10 on a Sat. night will be tough. Always have a good meal and a good time at Guapo's. Food flavorful, hot, and plentiful. Party of ten should be easy there.
