  1. Myself and two friends ate dinner last night at Eatonville. Sunday night a little before 7pm, no wait. I love that they did not cram as many tables in as they could, the space adds to the atmosphere, which is already great due to the high ceilings and art. We split the hush puppy - it was just OK. The mac & cheese was spectacular - two of us had it because it came with our fried chicken. I loved my fried chicken because the white meat was super-tender and while the two pieces were juicy it didn't feel greasy at all. I'm not a big fan of greens but I liked these, maybe because they were salty. Our 3rd person had the burger, which looked good and was huge. Not a bad price - $118 for the of us before tip, and we all had a couple of drinks. I'll be back to try the rest of the appetizers. I was there during happy hour once and had one of their specialty cocktails, which I enjoyed quite a bit - they are 1/2 off during happy hour (regular price ranges from $8-$11).
  2. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
  3. I do not have a huge sweet tooth but once a week I like to have an apple fritter with my morning coffee. I like the kind that have lots of crispy nodules. (There is another kind whose focus seems to be more on the apple filling - Dunkin Donuts seems to have these more often, if they have an apple fritter.) Starbucks has apple fritters but they aren't as crispy as I'd like them. The one place I've been able to consistently find the kind I like are at Greenberry's Coffee & Tea Co in Rosslyn. Does anyone know of another spot? I live in Rosslyn and work in Bethesda, so pretty much any location is great! (A search turns up some spots that look like they served something similar for dessert, but I'm looking more for cafes/coffeeshops with apple fritters).
  4. Hi Everyone! My name is Simon. I moved to the area about 1 1/2 years ago, I work in Bethesda and live in Rosslyn. I'm not involved in the food industry, I just love to eat and drink. While I love to try new places, I'm lazy and I'm always trying to fight my tendency to just end up at the same place again and again, ordering escargot, steak, and fries. (When I lived in Texas, my tendency was towards tex-mex.) DC seems to have a great variety, my yelp bookmarks are up to about 250, even though I've been to only a small fraction of those places. I like to cook, too, but I'm average at it. I love wine (as well as beer) but would love to know more about pairing. Right now, I mainly like wines in an absolute sense, regardless of what I'm eating. I look forward to reading and posting! Simon
