  1. Deli City is on Bladensburg Rd a block or two north of New York Ave (across from the Metro Bus garage). While it has a very good corned beef sandwich, it is nothing like the delis you describe. It does a lot of carry out business though there are maybe 20 or so tables. If you don't get sit down service you order at a window in the corner. It's only open Mon-Fri something like 6am to 6pm.LOVE Attman's! Kevin
  2. A two-year old post on CH said Jimmy's in Herndon had poutine. Thanks, Kevin
  3. That's true. Chocolate. Peppermint.

This is the smile of the year! Thanks, K-P Kevin
  5. I've bought the KP cans in New York, Chicago and Pittsburgh, but I've never seen them around here. I didn't know Dr Brown's used the same formula year round. Thanks, Kevin
  6. Has anyone seen any kosher for Passover Coke in 6-pack cans? I've seen plenty of 2-litre bottles (look for the signature yellow cap), and 2-litre bottles of Pepsi as well (plain white cap, with a blue KP on top) but no cans (Giant has 6-packs of Dr. Brown's black cherry as well as 1-litre bottles). Thanks very much, Kevin
  7. Clary's on Abercorn is one of my favorites. And for hipster doofus trivia, it was used in the movie 'Midnight in the Grden....' as a drugstore. Thanks, Kevin Clary's 404 Abercorn Street Savannah GA (912) 233-0402
  8. I will strongly second Mandina's. Though it's over three years since I've been, and they are only very recently opened post-Katrina, I'm sure you will have an excellent meal there. YES to the crab fingers and a great veal parm. A block or two up Canal and over on Carrollton is Angelo Brocatto which has fantastic gelato and should not be missed. A very short walk from Mandina's (though don't miss Mandina's bread pudding!)I walked to Elizabeth's when I was last in NOLa and had no trouble, but I don't know how much different it is now. I'd ask a few locals and if they balk, take the cab. DO NOT miss the praline bacon. Another localish spot is Parkway Bakery for excellent po boys. It's several blocks east of Canal and a few blocks south of Carrollton and is an easy walk from the street car. One of the few spots that had Louisiana Gold hot sauce (kind of a combo of Texas Pete and Tabasco). Be sure to have a Hubig's pie for dessert. In some ways, I consider Domilise's better than Parkway for po boys, but Domilise's was a 20 minute walk from the St Charles street car which I don't know if it's running. Parkway would be much easier to get to. Fiorella's in the Quarter has some of the best fried chicken, but it's kind of smokey at times and the wait can be long. Best to be/get a little drunk when there. Several friends have been post-Katrina so my recs should be valid. I hope you can get to Mandina's and report that it is as good as it once was. I've read nothing in re the newly opended Mandina's. Thanks, Kevin
  9. There are a few seafood places in the Italian Market. Hopefully they will have something you like. Thanks, Kevin
  10. Though a bit of a ride from DC Zack's in northwest Baltimore has the real thing, and it's a great overall dog place. Thanks, Kevin
  11. I thought they only made regular and diet Moxie. What other flavors were there? Thanks, Kevin
  12. A real life 'Veruca Salt'.Sthitch's "ether towelettes" - hilarious AND a great idea!! Kevin
  13. Scotty Simpson's Fish and Chips on Fenkell Rd. NOT to be missed, the best in the city! Kevin
  14. The Heart Attack Grill in Tempe Arizona, where the waitresses are dressed as scantily clad nurses and the cooks are dressed in scrubs is involved in a cause celebre over the term "nurse". The State Board of Nursing is threatening legal action and The Center for Nursing Advocacy has also gotten involved in the fray. I see the Heart Attack Grill as no more different than Hooters and don't believe for a second that nurses are being harmed by this place. Perhaps the use of the word "nursing" to mean sipping a drink should come under scrutiny. Thoughts? 15. You can't (legally ) make a left on to Colesville from Georgia. The Colesville Road exit off the Beltway would probably be easier. Thanks, Kevin
  16. Unless the dehydrated rum is like the dehydrated vodka they had in a Jerry Lewis movie about a hundred years ago called 'Way, Way Out', where they added water to a pill to make a bottle of vodka, I agree that it's kind of dumb. Thanks, Kevin
  17. I hope there won't be a run on the Best Cheap Drink locale of Mt Royal Tavern causing them to raise the Natty Boh w/a Pikesville rye shot price up from $3.75. Thanks, Kevin
  18. It’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day and I’m wondering where to celebrate. Long John Silver’s comes to mind of course, but maybe Bahama Breeze, Island Jim’s Crab Shack and Tikki Bar (if still open), or maybe The Quarterdeck. What say ye, mateys? Yarr, Kevin

Louisville Whenever I'm in Louisville (which is rarely), I always hit the Brown Hotel for the original hot brown. Thanks, Kevin http://www.thebrownhotel.com/
  20. I'm wondering if Carl's had made changes in the last couple of years, as like Ilaine, I was there recently (after lunch at Allman's - still great) and while Carl's was good, it wasn't nearly as good as I recall from 2 years ago and many visits before that.I also think Neilson's is the best in the area, and I like Dairy Godmother, but it's not as rich, to me, as Neilson's. Not that I wouldn't be happy to live in proximity to a place 1/2 as good as Dairy Godmother. Thanks, Kevin
  21. It's actually rogeufood.com, and it looks very similar to this board (I guess it's a standard package sold by Invision). I'm hoping to make it to Chubby's this weekend, and maybe do a comparison to Mr Chelsea's in Reisterstown as Chubby's is open Sundays. Thanks, Kevin http://www.roguefood.com/home.html
  22. Alas there are far too many mouthbreathers behaving badly in places one would consider classy, that the rules neither offend me, nor surprise me. I wish it weren't so. PX sounds great. Thanks, Kevin
  23. "Maybe I was speeding a little bit and I got pulled over. I was just really hungry and I wanted to have an In-N-Out Burger." If they're good enough for Paris Hilton to get arrested over, they're good enough for me . If ONLY there were a franchise a little closer to D.C. Thanks, Kevin http://www.in-n-out.com/
  24. The "plenty of stock" turned out to be ten. I bought four bottles, though I may have made a mistake as it (along with all the China Bowl sauces) is a discontinued item. There was no Cina Bowl chili puree (though lots of Plum and Hoisen sauces) at the Whole Fields on Rt 7 across from the Trader Joe's / Lido Pizza center. Thanks, Kevin
  25. The menu looks good, and the kraut & pork and fried potatoes w/sausage & onions sides sound interesting. And unlike Andy Nelson's and Mr Chelsea's, it's open Sundays! Thanks, Kevin http://chubbysbbq.com/
