  1. My wife and I stayed in the old/lower part of Quebec City at the Auberge St. Antoine last Labor Day. There is a very expensive restaurant in the hotel called Panache, which gets raves, but which I thought was overpriced and understaffed. Our favorite meal of the trip was at L'Echaude. It was a boisterous french bistro-type place in the old town. Also good was Le Lapin Saute, though a bit touristy.
