  1. Executive Chef Ethan McKee has decided to extend Washington, DC's RESTAURANT WEEK UNTIL SUNDAY, AUGUST 24th. Lunch at $20.08 and dinner at $35.08. Always wanted to see how delicious meets nutritious? Come by ROCK CREEK. Why not pair it with a movie night? Or on THURSDAYS, come in for JAZZ with saxophonist RON HOLLOWAY. SUNDAYS - YOUNG ARTISTS NIGHT. Come hear young artists sing, play jazz -- be mellow in the club room with these up and coming Washington artists who are all studying to be professional musicians. Singers ELIZABETH HANKLA, WILL LOCKHART, and jazz musician, DAVE KAHLER will be in concert on SUNDAY, AUGUST 24th. 6:30-8 pm. Just wanted you all to be up to date!
  2. Hi, Everyone -- REDWOOD is open, but still in a "preview" status. They have been doing this for a couple of weeks. The space is huge and very pretty -- with great outside seating in a literal "row." Lots of little shops with apartments above. Underground parking. Rock Creek welcomes them to the neighborhood!
  3. Hey, Don -- Funny that your inspiration to get fit has come in great part from a little girl with diabetes. One of primary underlying reasons for the creation of Rock Creek and its sister, Rock Creek at Mazza, is my niece, Haley, who was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 5. Haley, who is now 13, comes to eat at Rock Creek and says, "Aunt Judy, this is the only restaurant where I can go and pick my own food and know that I cannot get myself in trouble." Listing nutritional information -- and not using sugar -- are both the direct result of watching this wonderful child cope in a world that does little to give her the information necessary to keep her blood sugar stable. So good luck. Come have dinner with us! Judy Hammerschmidt Co-Owner, Rock Creek and Rock Creek at Mazza
  4. Hi, Everyone. Rock Creek at Mazza is indeed open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, small plates all afternoon, and brunch on Sunday (beginning in September). Come see our gorgeous tree and enjoy the delicious food prepared by Chef Ethan McKee, formerly Chef de Cuisine at Equinox. Ris Lacoste is in the house as our corporate chef, working with both Chef McKee and Chef Pryzberowski in Bethesda. Don't forget Restaurant Week at our Bethesda location next week (July 22-29). We look forward to seeing you all! Judith Hammerschmidt and Tom Williams, Owners
  5. Hi. I am the owner of Rock Creek, and I can say that we most certainly do not HATE the man who comes in on his Segway. When we built Rock Creek we went to enormous lengths to make it not only handicapped accessible but handicapped friendly. The person who comes into Rock Creek regularly who uses a Segway is someone who needs his Segway -- the same way someone who comes in in a wheelchair needs the wheelchair. We welcome him each and every time, and will continue to do so. So while this is an "enough already" thread, I have to say that I was really offended by the tone of a good deal of this -- try having a neuromuscular disease that requires assistance and see how welcome you are in the restaurants of DC.In the future when someone comes in on a Segway, try to note the reason rather than focus on the inconvenience. That could well be you some day.
