  1. Tacos, Tortas & Tequila (TTT), and companion restaurant Buena Vida, will open this Friday, May 4, in the former 8407 space in Downtown Silver Spring: "Tacos, Tortas, and Tequila, Buena Vida Restaurants To Open Friday" by Mike Diegel on sourceofthespring.com --- Buena Vida (soapy)
  2. In the space formerly occupied by the credible Pane e Vino, there is now Casa Tequila. It appears to be the second outpost of the original Casa Tequila in Purcellville, and offers what might be the suburbs' most extensive tequila menu. With the same outdoor seating as Pane e Vino and with such a selection of tequila, there should be some pleasant happy hours for the Lorton Station residents. The menu -- which I admit that I have not yet sampled -- looks like a decent attempt at "Mex" with a few "Tex" thrown in to attract the locals. This area is not big on true Mexican flavors, which is a

  4. David Suro Pií±era of the agave advocacy nonprofit Tequila Interchange Project once again sounds the alarm on a troubling development in the Mexican government's regulation of agave distillates. Apparently not content with their domination of the profitable tequila market, the country's large industrial producers are attempting to insert a new catch-all category of agave distillates into the country's standards and norms regulations, apparently to force traditional mezcal producers to join their bloc or lose the right to even reference the terms agave or maguey on their labels. Article: "The
  5. Is there a thread on Pepita? Google didn't find it. I had lunch there the other day. I had the tongue and goat tacos, the tongue was very soft and had good flavor, but the goat was really a star, the flavor combination was great with a little more texture than the tongue. We had chips and the salsa verde. The salsa verde was one of the best I have ever had- it was thicker in texture than most and had a nice kick to it. I also liked the music selection. $24 total for 2 people- 4 fairly good size tacos, chips, salsa and non-alcoholic drinks. Which isn't too bad. I would like to try the
  6. Bartaco opened at Reston Town Center on Monday. We just stopped by early in the evening and by the time we left it was completely packed with a waiting line. Pretty impressive on a weeknight and so recently since it's opening. The atmosphere was casual and staff were friendly and helpful. Our waiter informed us that they have a order slip which we fill out and then place a small blue card on metal stand on the table to notify them when our order was order and for everything else we need. Our tacos ($2.50 each), baja fish, chicken and pork belly were tasty and surprisingly on the level of
  7. "Mexico Ships 1st Load of Best Tequila to China" I saw what happened with wine - your eight-dollar top-shelf margarita is about to become a thing of the past.
  8. This is great news for Clarendon, and Arlington as a whole. Reported by Northern Virginia Magazine, Passion Food Restaurants (DC Coast, PassionFish, Acadiana etc) is opening a Mexican restaurant in Clarendon. With a tequileria on the first floor . Knowing this restaurant groups heritage, I'm predicting a KILLER fish taco, very excited.
