  1. I've been friends with Sara Damelio, founder of Skincando, for over a decade, though I haven't seen her in probably almost ten years. And I've been a loyal customer of Skincando "Combat Ready" Balm, which was originally designed with our troops overseas in mind. I recently got an email from the company, advertising a 40%-off discount - with free shipping - so I wrote and ordered two 8-ounce jars. I also quipped, "Please have Sara make a fresh batch." She wrote back, said she'd love a mention on this website, and when I asked her what she'd like me to say, she told me this:
  2. InstantPot users, do you have any favorite recipes you've been using? I'm still very new at this and enjoying it but haven't got a lot of things to put in our regular rotation yet. We've done crock-pot cooking before, but the pressure cooker is very new to us, and we like it for the time it saves. Also, how do you keep food from sticking and burning? We cooked a honey garlic chicken that was very easy and we all loved the taste, but each time we've made it, some of it has stuck and burned. We followed the recipe and set it for a particular time - should we be setting it on "Poultry" inst
  3. I saw Aziz Ansari on an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, liked him, so I thought I'd give his show, "Parks and Recreation" a whirl. Well, I haven't watched any of it yet, but I'm going to watch the pilot perhaps tonight, and I didn't want to lose all this title-tag information, so I'm posting now, will edit later. BTW, I don't summarize plots - just as I didn't with my Complete! Series! Of! Night! Gallery! Commentaries! I write these both as a (hopefully entertaining) supplement for people who have either just watched the episode, are in the middle of watching it, or are
  4. So, a friend of mine told me that if I didn't mind "Django Unchained," I wouldn't mind "Inglourious Basterds." I didn't mind it, and actually somewhat enjoyed it. Christoph Waltz, in both movies, is really good - there's a certain "Intellectual 'It Factor'" to his demeanor that makes him highly likable and highly unlikable at the same time, all the while being believable, even when in unbelievable situations. Didn't I just say something similar about Tom Cruise and "Jack Reacher?" As one example of me (or is it "my") not hating "Inglourious Basterds," I'm just not on the same pa
  5. Mary Scott was an actress who appeared in four "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" episodes, and that's good enough for me. Ms. Scott was married to Sir Cedric Hardwicke (who played in "Rope"), but after seeing her for the fourth episode in AHP, I decided that no matter what else she did with her career, she deserved her own thread, and I hope someone else chimes in with some of her other work. Scott published a memoir entitled, "Nobody Ever Accused Me Of Being A Lady," but with her mildly Audrey Hepburn-like screen presence, I'm accusing her right now. The four Alfred Hitchcock Present
  6. "They Say It's Spring" from the 1958 album Give Him the Ooh-La-La. That's Blossom Dearie, piano and vocal; Herb Ellis, guitar; Ray Brown, bass; and Jo Jones, drums. (I don't know if it's true now, or if it was ever true, but it used to be said that Ray Brown was the most-recorded musician of all time. He certainly never wanted for work.)
