K1 (Beer Advocate rating) is a neighborhood gem for beer and wine. I am planning to visit Belgium, so I stopped in at K1 to buy a bottle of Chimay. I was delighted to find several types of Chimay here, but I didn't buy any because there were so many other interesting beer selections from Belgium. I wound up trying two beers from Bruges, where I am planning to visit for a few days. This store is small, but it has a great selection of adult beverages--particularly beer.
FWIW, I just noticed today that they've opened a location in College Park on Rt 1 about two blocks north of the UMCP main gate. (On a related note...when did gentrification hit Hyattsville?!)
Both Sheetz and Wawa have very decent food. The egg salad at Wawa is *really* good. The only time you should EVER buy egg salad at a gas station. If you could somehow figure out how to shoehorn Wawas into Northern VA (specifically Fairfax and Loudoun County), you could make a *fortune*. Well, since this is now it's own thread... I searched high and low, but found no thread or other post regarding 7-11. I'm surprised because, though I am known among my friends as someone to consult regarding all things culinary, I must confess a love of 7-11 hot dogs, particularly the 1/4 pound spicy bite.
