  1. People who love to Eat are always the Best people , Katt Hull In an effort to connect all the dots, I have included a link to a page I manage on FB. The interaction on that platform isn’t as nearly interactive as I would like, but rather a peak inside my adventures in food. I chose to name the page after a quote that completely resonates with me. People who love to eat are always the best People. I knew from an early age , I was different from the rest. I watched cooking shows instead of cartoons. I sought out cookbooks in old bookstores and found a sense of home in those dusty pages. This is a piece of me. My food voice. Personal connections I have made will be shared here as well. For this reason, I enjoy rolling solo most of the time. I have always enjoy dining solo. I learn more about the places I go to in that way, and learned a lot about myself. I connect deeply with those who love food. I encourage anyone who has a blog, to post here, and post often. This is what makes this space so extraordinary. We all have a voice. This is the best place to share it. -kat
  2. Can you believe that there is no general thread (at least none that I can find) here about Facebook? The reason I'm starting one now is because I've noticed a somewhat disturbing trend in the past few days. A few days ago, a Friend (whom I've only met once in my life, but who did a favor for me long ago) posted that for his birthday, he'd like people to donate to his favorite charity. I thought, "Well, what a nice thing to do. Sure, why not?" So I donated $20 out of respect, and wished him a Happy Birthday! I'd forgotten all about this - until I saw another Friend do a similar thing a couple of days ago. And another. And now another. Has anyone else noticed this on Facebook in the past week? Changing the subject a bit, the last two times I've donated money - once on Facebook, once on GoFundMe - including having given a fairly ample sum to a person who doesn't even seem to like me, but who seemed desperate - both times, I got not so much as a thank you, or even a "Like." Really? I don't expect anything in return when I give people something, but what has happened to common courtesy? The flip-side of this is that I gave a pretty substantial sum to an old high school buddy who really *was* desperate - he needed a kidney transplant, pronto. And a couple months ago, he got one, and is doing much better now - we haven't seen each other in 40 years, but now we've reconnected, and that makes all of this worthwhile.

  4. Here is a great story about a customer's interactions with a restaurant facebook page. Lots of people followed it and noticed it. Its one way to grab attention. ....so its an applebee's. so what. Its still endearing.
  5. http://www.telegraph...Rome-lunch.html It was not the first time that the multi-billionaire chose not to tip – he reportedly did the same thing the night before at Pierluigi, a historic trattoria near Campo de' Fiori, a piazza in the heart of Rome.
  6. I'm "friends" with Tom S. and Todd K. on FB. I just saw Aykan Demiroglu (owner of Bistro Vivant in McLean) tag both on photos of Bistro Vivant (such photos are of the restaurant, not Tom or Todd). Essentially Demiroglu - who I don't know and don't care about - used his friend status with Tom and Todd to get pictures of his restaurant to all of Tom and Todd's "friends." This can be done without Tom and Todd's prior approval (but that doesn't mean they didn't approve in advance). Incidentally, Don was tagged as well. Hmm....any thoughts? A bit sneaky?
