  1. Surprised there hasn't been discussion of Batali's extravagant new venture - Eataly. I'm going to be in NYC next week and it'll be hard not to give this place a visit. This is so over the top but the success of the one in Venice makes one think this could actually work.
  2. Cosme is probably one of the hottest openings of late 2014, and one of the 2 or 3 best openings of last year in NYC. This week, the Times' review hit, and it's a 3-star rave up. The New Yorker review also hit this week. Adam Platt in New York/Grub Street grudgingly gives it 3 stars. Time Out New York - utter rave. And this nebbishy Jewish kid from Long Island liked it too...Tasty Travails.
  3. I did not see a thread for Craft (itself). Wow. I wonder why?!! Been twice and loved both times. Really good food, really good service both times. Great space. I will have to try to dig up photos (I think I have some from both times).
  4. Had dinner here Friday night (former Manzanilla space). Fantastic new addition to the Flatiron area. Collab from Justin Smilie (Il Buco, Barbuto) and Stephen Starr. The space and menu feels like ABC Kitchen with more of an Italian influence. Highlights for the apps were the Japanese Mackerel (celeriac, brussels sprouts, pistachio, benton's ham + tangerine) and the Beef Tartare (black trumpet mushroom, puffed farro, anchovy + egg yolk). Don't miss the Short Rib for Two (loved the shaved horseradish) and Estrella pasta with chicken liver for entrees. Service was fantastic and Mr. Starr himself was actively working the room.
