My daughter just graduated from college and is moving to DC July 1 to start her new job, and I'll be spending a couple of days down there helping her move and celebrating the 4th. I don't get to DC that often though I live just north in Frederick, MD. so I'm looking for some dining options. Her new apartment is near the Convention Center, but we will be touring around DC with the rest of the tourists on the 4th. She loves to cook and eat good food - but she's not a fine diner (nor am I). Foams, foie gras, etc. are not up her alley. ALso, please note that Mom (that's me) will be footing the bill for the 15 meals to come. So.... Komi it ain't! What would be some good casual not too expensive places that we might consider for lunch and dinner? FWIW, we went to Rasika yesterday and LOVED it! Thanks!

All, I could use some help. I've got about 30 people coming for the 4th, and am trying to come up with something other than burgers and dogs to make. I'd like something that is all or mostly make ahead (if I'm doing some finishing touches during the party its O.K.) so, for once, I'm not chained to the grill. Mixed meat eaters and vegetarians. Pluses if I can get the main ingredients at Costco. I came up with the idea of a taco bar with a smoked or crock pot pork butt, some chicken, and tortillas, etc, but that seems contrary to the patriotic fourth spirit. Otherwise, I thought of pulled pork. Other ideas? No ribs. I'd like to hit Costco tomorrow afternoon, so quick replies really appreciated! Also ideas for sides

Since July 4th just passed, can anyone suggest a restaurant in Virginia that has a really good view of the fireworks on the National Mall? Preferably with good parking? Believe it or not, I'm planning a car club event for next year. Thanks for your input.
