This is really an interesting geographical trivia question because very few people know the answer. I've never once asked it at a party, and heard someone get it right. 1. Great Bear Lake (31,500 km2) 2. Great Slave Lake (27,200 km2) - The Great Slave is also the deepest lake in North America. Both are contained entirely within the Northwest Territories. These are the 8th, and 10th, largest lakes in the world, respectively. Next to Russia, Canada is the largest country in the world, so it's easy not to know its obscure geographical features, especially in the northern provinces. Incidentally, the former U.S.S.R. took up *8* time zones - yes, it stretched 1/3 of the way around the world.
