http://panamerican4u.com/index.html (I think, although I swear this took me to a different looking website last week) I know they have locations in Arlington and Alexandria. Anyway, we stopped in here Saturday to pick up a Tres Leches cake for my brother's birthday. I called ahead, but I don't think my Spanish was really good enough to get the transaction done, luckily they had one in the case when we arrived. I had never been in, we were starving from doing a good bit of yard work, so we ordered a chorizo and chicken sandwich, and then a chicken, beef and a green plantain. Hubby

Located just off Gunston Road in Gunston Plaza next to the US Post Office, this place surprisingly has 13 locations in the area. The pizza is good as are the subs, pasta and daily lunch specials which are typically $8-10. Service is consistently good as well. Atmosphere is typical vinyl green-checkered table clothes and the Italian flag, tacky Italian inspired, framed pictures and wall paper adorn the walls. Kitchen is somewhat open and the place is always clean and pretty busy for lunch - I have probably eaten here 25 times, and oddly just now adding this post. If you happen to be in Lo

Many cities are well known for their street art, murals, and graffiti. San Francisco's Mission District is well know. Buenos Aires is also a fine example. Please use this thread to post photos of street art from your travels with a notation of city and country.

This section of the Dining Guide is by far the most controversial, and arguably the least useful. Since each restaurant - even if it's a chain - only gets one thread, I've decided to separate restaurants with multiple locations into categories. Remember that these are all chains, and the vast majority of great dining experiences will be found at the independently owned restaurants in the Dining Guides from Philadelphia City. Still, it would benefit the community for me to (eventually) go in and pick the best 10, 20, 50 of these restaurants, and distribute them into their individual locations

"Secrets Of DC Food Chains: What Makes Them So Successful" by Rita Rapuano on zagat.com I found this to be interesting. It's not the most in-depth of articles, but gave some good food for thought (pardon the pun).

For those who like to sample some swine with their healthier farmers market purchases, the South Riding Farmers Market, which is actually now the Wellness Connection Farmers Market at the new Gum Spring Library in Stone Ridge, Saturdays 9-1, has a barbecue guy who does ribs, pulled pork, sausages, and hot dogs. It's Uncle Fred's BBQ Smoke Shack: here's their Facebook page which has their number and locations.
