Location and Rates - Website This is a 15 story hotel, in an beautiful ornate building right across the street from City Hall. The lobby is small, but well appointed, and there were always many staff available to help. The car valet area is also small, given the corner on which the hotel is situated, and can lead to backups on the street. However, if you pull around the side, street parking has been set aside as a loading area for guests. Also, if you continue straight down Juniper for a block and a half, you can park in the convention center parking garage for over $10 cheaper per 24 h

Don't eat scrapple? Anyway, you need to get a pork sandwich at DeNic's. Make sure to get it with the rapini.

Location and Rates for Tonight - Website Absolutely great report. Thank you! btw...getting that hotel for 100 bucks is a steal I have not been able to snag on priceline in 4 years. You paid at least half, if not a third. It's a rare deal. Best I've done is the Hyatt Penn's Landing for 70 bucks....out of season. Good for you!

Heading up to Philly in a couple of weeks for a mini-vacation. Me and my 4 yo son. Planning to visit Reading Terminal Market, for either brunch or maybe to grab some things for a picnic lunch, and also any goodies that should come back to DC with us. What's good? What's "don't miss"? (And what's "not cheesesteak"? I've had them. I'm not sold.)

Dutch Eating Place in Reading Terminal Market This Amish-run, counter-seating spot is probably the best place to grab breakfast in Philly. Oh, I love my diners (Little Pete's), but the food here can not be beat-nor the price. I enjoyed fresh orange juice along with an egg platter that included excellent scrapple; crisp on the outside and creamy cornmeal inside. Toasted rye bread was slathered with their homemade butter. Mr. MV ordered blueberry pancakes-3 large cakes that overflowed the plate. Service was incredibly friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Get there early on Sat. or b

Had breakfast at the Down Home Diner in Reading Terminal Market on Sat. There are a few booths and several counter stools. I have to say, I'm glad that the Dutch Eating Place was closed, otherwise, I wouldn't have tried this little gem. I ordered a plate of scrapple, 2 poached eggs and hash browns, that came with 2 hearty slices of homemade rye bread and homemade strawberry jam ($4.99 (I know, ridiculous!)) Mr. MV ordered 2 eggs over easy, corned beef hash (excellent) and cooked apples, which also came with 2 slices of rye ($6.99). The coffee was good, as was the service.
