  1. Zahav (reservations are imperative - it's also a two-minute walk from Amada if you want to sample both) and John's Roast Pork (open M-F 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM only).
  2. If anyone was a fan of Mannequin Pis, when Bernard Dehaene sold it, he went to Philadelphia and opened ZoT in the Society Hill neighborhood. The menu is much the same but expanded somewhat, and of course there are still those great mussels and the fantastic list of Belgian beers. --- [Note: Zot closed in November, 2009.]
  3. While attending a Fringe Festival production in the neighborhood we decided to give Xochitl a try for dinner. We were seated right on time and the wait staff was very responsive. They do an interesting take on the table-side guacamole where you get to customize your ingredients. We stuck with pretty basic ingredients, except for shaved black truffle which really didn't add all that much additional richness. We share the ceviche and thought it was very light and citrusy. I had the Shrimp Nogada which was incredibly rich, cheesy and stuffed in a poblano pepper. My daughter had the Pollo Fr
  4. Had dinner at Farmicia this past weekend and had an enjoyable meal. Highlights for me were the Tuscan Grain Salad (organic spelt, chopped garden vegetables, lemon-basil vinaigrette, arugula) and the Crispy Fried Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail (atop a trio of fries, bloody mary dipping sauce). My entree of Boneless Pork Chop Dijon (grilled, honey glazed turnips, broccoli, cider-sage sauce) was good, but the meat was slightly overcooked and therefore a bit dry, but the sauce helped. It did have a nice bit of char from the grill that went well with the sweetness of the turnips.
  5. Pathetically replying to my own post....but with a follow up question. Actually, Django and Matyson both had reservations tomorrow, so I scooped both and wanted opinions on which you'd recommend first. Pax, Brian
