  1. Hi All, It has been a long since I posted on DonRockwell.com, but I have long been a reader of this great blog. My husband, Matt Wright, has been in the industry for years, and I either directly or indirectly know many of you. For those that don't know me, allow me to introduce myself: My name is Jaime Wright, and I am the founder and Executive Director of Lolly's Locks, a 501©(3) nonprofit organization committed to connecting cancer patients in need with high-quality wigs. Lolly's Locks was inspired by my mom, Lolly, who lost her 15-month battle with ovarian cancer in March 2012
  2. Don and I are old friends and we were talking about my upcoming fundraiser and he urged me to post it... I have a friend here in Howard County named Sean. He is 6 years old and attends Pointers Run Elementary School. Sean has been diagnosed with a very rare eye disorder called "Clarksville Boy Raises Awareness For Rare Eye Disease" by Luke Lavoie on baltimoresun.com Kona Ice of Howard County Steve Shuman 443-878-6109 sshuman@kona-ice.com
  3. I believe this is the 3rd year for the Alexandria Seaport Foundation's Wine on the Water. It's a fun event that supports a great program. You can't beat spending a late spring evening along the Potomac with a glass of wine. From their e-invite: Full disclosure, a good friend of mine is on their Board, but I would support the organization and recommend the event, even if that wasn't the case. Hope to see some of you there!
  4. In case you were wondering what to do the afternoon of April 10, 2016, might I suggest attending the Sole Celebration Virginia fundraising event hosted by the good folks at In Christy's Shoes at 4pm at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington and benefiting Doorways for Women and Families. There will be a fashion show, a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and music. Above all, you will be supporting a most worthy cause and taking advantage of yet another opportunity to become better acquainted with your neighbors. It's not too late to live a little, and give a little......
  5. Join the Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture to celebrate the Passover feast -- and the passing of winter -- at DC's only farm-to-table seder, to be held on the first night of Passover. Away from home for the holiday? Or curious about this ages-old Jewish ritual? There can be no better way to celebrate and learn than from two of the greatest culinary influencers in Washington, D.C.: Chef Todd Gray and Ellen Kassoff Gray. Sit down with fellow food fans for this this participatory dinner, and dig into the symbolic Passover dishes that are beloved and time-honored "¦ but given a m

  7. If you have a big heart and care about the DC community, please consider participating in this -- especially if you're with a restaurant, food/wine and/or hospitality-related business here in the Washington area.* WHAT: Be The Care, Whitman-Walker Health's big spring fundraiser. They will honor Senator Tammy Baldwin with a Partner for Life award. Please show your support any number of ways: (and feel free to PM me to get more info/make arrangements) Donate silent auction items (coveted dining experiences, wine collections, gift baskets, etc.): Receive recognition in the program, would
  8. Well, I haven't see many people post about this, but mods, please feel free to shut this topic down, if you think it's too much. I thought it would be good to offer a topic to post about places, events, etc. fundraising or helping Hurricane Sandy victims. So far, I have been following Dana Cowin (@fwscout), Johnny Iuzzini (@Johnny_Iuzzini), and the #dineoutNYC for information. I also know that you can text to 90999 to Red Cross for a $10 donation. Any others?
