My fiance and I are planning our wedding. We are thinking about hiring caterers for a buffet dinner for 75 guests. I don't have much of an idea of where to start looking for reasonably priced catering. A friend suggested Whole Foods, but there must be other options to don't cost $80 per person. Your thoughts would be welcomed!

Ballroom Catering (703) 469-2244. Ask for Sandra.

They do in-house catering at the Clarendon Ballroom and tons of off-site catering as well. My business partners own this establishment, so I'm admittedly a little biased, but years ago when they catered my rehearsal dinner and wedding, I wasn't involved with them in a business partnership and I can tell you, people still bring up the food at my wedding! They really hit a home run with their buffet menu for our wedding.

Their chef's name is Patrick Crump. He's an amazing and talented chef that worked for years at the Inn at Little Washington and the Frog & the Redneck before getting bitten by the catering bug. He and Sandra started "S & P Catering" a long time ago and merged it with the Ballroom 9 years ago.

I don't know a thing about their prices, though. Maybe you could at least find out their pricing and use it as a guide while you research other catering companies?
