goodeats
I picked up a copy of this month's Viva Tysons! and it had an article about this place on page 39 (you can access it through the link, by clicking on this month's issue). Chris Guerre and his wife Sara opened Maple Avenue Market (it's the same link to their truck store), an actual storefront as of Labor Day, while Sara and her partner Libby have been running it as a mobile gourmet market the (On the Gourmet) part at various farmer's markets (see monavano's mention here on the On the Gourmet truck. Both places offer local items, including Jamie Stachowski's charcuterie. I have not tried it, but I like that they offer home delivery every two weeks. Has anyone visited their shop yet? The store is at 128 Maple Avenue East, Vienna. Hours may change, so please contact them at 703-957-9348.
goodeats
I think this topic may be best moved to "shopping and cooking," since the market is a pretty nice little general store market. They have lots of dairy from Trickling Springs, including lots of ice cream options, cream, and dairy/cheeses. They also have Jamie's items, Blue Ridge cheeses and homemade pastas. Not to mention pretty good beef, lamb, pork and bison options. Apples are in barrels, as are root veggies and onions. It's a nice touch. A small head of broccoli, 6 apples, 3 carrots, 1 quart of milk + $2 bottle deposit, 1 small snack bag of cookies, and 1 little thing of Trickling Springs egg nog only set me back $9 and change, which I thought was great for fresh, local products. Right now, they have an offering to sign onto a cow-share -- $6-$6.50 per pound will buy you x amount of beef. They also have offered to store it for you if you don't have the space for it. There is also a CSA you can sign-up for to start in May.
goodeats
Was there today and they had plenty of eggs and milk. $3 for a dozen from The Hen's Nest in Maryland and $4 for organic ones (can't remember the producer). Also picked up some nice looking mushrooms and carrots. Love the barrels!
lion
Maple Avenue Market website Glad to see Maple Avenue Market already listed. Have really enjoyed their vegetables and eggs this past few months as the outdoor markets have shut down for the winter.
