Assuming they want something a bit more upscale than Tutto Bene, their best bets might be Pinzimini or Vapiano. Better still would be the bar at Willow which has $5 bar snacks (but is neither Italian nor Indian). A very underrated restaurant is Grand Cru which has a good wine selection, and various Italian items on their tapas and dinner menus. Cheers, Rocks

Cheers, Rocks I'm being told that they don't like Tutto Benne, Pinzimmi is too expensive, they've been to Vapiano's, and Willow isn't Italian or Indian enough. Sigh. Women. KMango
"Girls Night Out In Ballston" is like saying "Girls Gone Wild At The Mini Mart". Encourage them to stroll onto the Metro and hit Clarendon. It's a brief ride into abundant choices and playful opportunities.
ktmoomau
I live in Ballston and would not recommend it for Italian or Indian. They do know no indian places have happy hour? Willow or Grand Cru would be best if they can let go of the Indian, Italian thing. If not perhaps hit up Liberty Tavern, although not Italian, their pastas and pizza are wonderful. Or Tandoori Nights? No happy hour specials, but... Or Sette Bello. I don't remember what their happy hour is like. Some of the pastas are hit and miss the salmon penne is great though. Pizzas are decent, nothing outrageous. If they want pizza go to American Flatbread or Liberty. Last night Grand Cru had a Barboursville tasting... they should have scheduled better.
