The Potomack Company invites you to join Mrs. R.W. Apple, Jr. on Thursday, April 22, 2010 for tales from New York Times political, food, and wine writer R.W. "Johnny" Apple's book, Far Flung and Well Fed, and hors d'oeuvres featured in the book.

Meet Potomack's wine specialist, Jason Whiteside, for insight on Apple's wine collection to be auctioned at Belle Haven on Sunday, April 25th.

"Johnny Apple was one of the world's most opinionated and discriminating gastronomes. He wasn't someone who tolerated inferior wines or mediocre food. Anything he collected in his own cellar he planned to drink and enjoy. Now another lucky person may be the beneficiary of his connoisseurship and hopefully, will take as much pleasure from drinking some of these gems as Johnny would have."

The wine is on display at the Potomack Company showroom, along with the items for their Saturday, April 24 auction. The Saturday auction includes other non-wine items from the Apple estate (such as a great collection of Rookwood, Roseville, and other pottery items).
