Georges Vernay Dinner at Bistro Francais

Recommended Posts

Mark your calendars, on October 13, 2010 Bistro Francais is having a wine dinner featuring the wines of Georges Vernay.

The dinner is sponsored by the Vineyard in McLean.

Georges Vernay founded his domaine with just under four acres in Condrieu. In the late 1940s he recognized the danger that the appellation was in, with under 20 acres remaining under vine in the appellation there was a serious risk of the appelation disappearing. Due to his efforts to replant and promote the beautiful wines of the Condrieu, Georges Vernay became known as the "savior of Condrieu." His daughter, Christine, assumed winemaking responsibilities in 1997. After a few years honing her craft, she began to fashion some of the most distinctive wines coming from the Northern Rhone, showing a deft touch with both reds and whites.
