Rhone1998
Can anyone recommend a place to get a nice variety of veg and non-veg sandwiches, in DC? Would need it for a party this Sunday. Besides going to Whole Foods, I'm drawing a blank on possibilities here. Thanks in advance, Dan
TheMatt
I know that Balducci's has sandwich platters. You can custom select what you get and they have up to 4 vegetarian options (depending on level of vegetarian (eggs, cheese, etc.)). I imagine Dean and Deluca do as well, though for even more money. On the less "kill your wallet" side, Wegmans does too I imagine.
zoramargolis
Italian Store? Cornucopia? Uptown deli?
TheMatt
Also Roots Market seems to have holiday catering, so perhaps they do non-holiday as well? But they are in MD and not that-close-to-DC MD. Hmm.
Rovers2000
It's somewhat on the wallet busting side, but Jetties (I know they do catering out of their location on Foxhall but am unsure if that also applies to their new Bethesda location) does platters of both sandwiches and salads. I believe they're 70-80 bucks for what would comfortably feed 8-10 people and they do have vegetarian options.
ScotteeM
For years my department head has hosted a modest buffet luncheon for the whole hospital staff at the holidays. He always gets platters of cold cuts and vegetarian roll-ups from Shoppers Food Warehouse (they have sandwich platters, too). Not fancy, and easy on the wallet. Makes the whole hospital happy for an afternoon.
squidsdc
Lawson's Deli has catering-our building always uses them when doing events and I have been pleasantly surprised. I know that Au Bon Pain Corner Bakery and Panera all offer sandwich platters as well.
Rhone1998
Thanks, everyone. I'm really looking for something in DC proper, since it's going to be a busy enough day and I don't want to spend too much time driving around picking stuff up beforehand. I went with Jetties (had never heard of this place before!) and will report back on quality Monday.
New Foodie
Just went to A. Litteri's by the Florida Ave market this weekend for the first time and noticed they advertize that they do catering platters. Not sure what the veg options would be there, but I'm sure the meat ones would be tasty!
goldenticket
Too late for your needs, but Taylor Gourmet is another option.

They are indeed - I have purchased both meat platters and cookie platter from Litteri for various events and they have always gone over very well.
