I can't recall the name of the store right now, but it's in Congressional Plaza on the Pike, in between Whole Foods and next door to Chico's. They also have a store in Bethesda. tripewriter
Look for one of the many area Comfort One locations in the area.

mdt
Look here where the chefs shop: Bragard These are nice and much cheaper than the danskos.
perrik
Thanks for the suggestions, y'all. Although I'd like to try the Bragard clogs, it's necessary for me to actually try on footwear before buying. Weird feet, you know. (it doesn't help that I've lost a full shoe size since May)
fooddufus
Go to the REI on Rockville Pike. My wife uses the Merrells that have the mesh type uppers. She swears by them because they allow her feet to breath in a hot kitchen and they give great support just like the "pro" chef clogs. Good Luck, George
Cook&Bottlewasher
Look here where the chefs shop: Bragard Bragard does not carry the closed back Dansko clog, footwear of choice! Find your size and buy them over the internet. This only works if you are SURE of your size which you can determine by buying your first pair at Comfort One in Old Town or whereever
russell's dad
I second the recommendation of the Dansko closed back...I think it's called the "professional"...they last for years!
perrik
I just received a $50 gift card for REI, and they carry the Dansko professional clogs. That makes my choice easy.
Chris W
I've had the same pair of Dansko professionals for 5 years and they still rock.
Al Dente
I bought my Dansko's from pegasusshoes.com for $120 including shipping. I'm pretty sure that's about the going rate.
Heather
I second the recommendation of the Dansko closed back...I think it's called the "professional"...they last for years!Well, except when they don't. The panel in the closed back has snapped in half, and I have worn down the heels on my current pair of Pros in less than two years. I wonder if they are skimping on quality now that they offer a million designs.Go to the REI on Rockville Pike. My wife uses the Merrells that have the mesh type uppers. She swears by them because they allow her feet to breath in a hot kitchen and they give great support just like the "pro" chef clogs.Mesh top doesn't protect against hot spills though! I hosed my suede Birk clogs with a cup of hot oil this summer.
johnb
For home, not commercial kitchen use, how do Crocs or one of their knockoffs work out? I assume the ones with no holes would be better at the very least.

Pool Boy
I had no idea they made such a thing as 'Chef Shoes'....you learn a new thing every day. But honestly I was expecting them to come with attachments so you could dice onions with the built in knife and cutting board that pops out from the soles... Waitman
They have chef shoes at one of the many Comfort Zones just steps from the Dupont Circle Market (I think it's the one closest to the Circa restaurant). I can't remember the brand, but according to the poster hanging nearby, they make Jamie Oliver smile, so they must be good.

Not to be too much the cynic, but the main reason he smiles is probably because he gets a few cents every time somebody buys some.
