Tweaked
Anyone know where I can rent a Caja China or know of a local catering company that will do a cuban pig roast. Some of the guests will be up from Miami so the pig roast needs to be very legit! Thanks
JuneBacon
I sure would like to know if you find one. I had large ambitions of building one last year, but I got caught up on the proper grade of aluminum which is safe for use with food. Had worries about lead and whatnot. goodeats
Um, maybe you can ask your Miami friends/family to bring the pig for you? (Although, this company ships, too.) [Will continue searching out of curiosity.]
Tweaked
Pig I can get...just having trouble finding the Caja China to rent. Although getting a pig shipped would be funny! The fall back might be Cuban Corner in Rockville...it appears they will roast up a 25-35lbs pound pig.
goodeats
Does it have to be a caja? I found a place that will rent a smoker pit (yes, you can tell how little I know of this area...).
Tweaked
Probably. I'm helping out some friends who are getting married in DC at the end of the summer but are currently stationed in Baghdad. The groom's Miami uncle is the one who does the pig roasting in the family and apprently he is all about the Caja. My gringo arse is just following directions! Pat
Pig I can get...just having trouble finding the Caja China to rent. Ask around at the picnic? I know there are members possessing such a vessel, though it might not be exactly what you are seeking..
Tweaked
Yeah, not going to be at the picnic...DanielK suggested I get in touch with AGM

Andelman
I have a Caja China you could borrow. I am the co-owner of the apparatus, but I am sure you could borrow it. Just send me a PM for the details.
Tweaked
Hey Edan and Jason, thanks for your offers. Like I posted upthread, I trying to help coordinate with the groom who is in Baghdad and he is trying to coordinate with an uncle in Miami, so several moving parts and we are trying to figure out if we can pull it off. Just an FYI, this will be for Labor day weekend, so I understand if your Cajas might be needed that weekend! I will be in contact once I have further info from the groom and/or uncle. Thanks!
