When Big Bowl first opened in Chicago, I really liked it. Same with Tru. But I haven't really tried any that opened up in DC area. It fills a niche, but probably not for this crowd.

Maggiano's is miles above the other chain Italian family-style places (Olive Garden, Buca di Beppo, That's Amore).

Mon Ami Gabi is ok every once in a while before a movie at the Landmark in Bethesda.

They're certainly not destination places for people on this board, but I don't have bad meals there.

If star ratings mean anything to you Chicago Magazine awarded both Everest and Tru 4 out of 4 stars.

In the DC area? I've dined at their restaurants here probably 20 times in total over the past few years. Mon Ami Gabi is pretty decent up in Bethesda. I've had a few good meals and go up there from time to time. I like their fries quite a bit. Wildfire in Tysons is ok for what it is. Their restaurants are not places I would go to on a whim, but for meeting friends who don't want anything adventurous they serve a purpose and are better than some of their competitors.

Big Bowl is nasty though. Worst "thai" food i've had in a long time.
