Quality Fish esp. Skate in Alexandria

Perhaps you're referring to Slavin's on Glebe road? More Arlandria, but closed a couple years ago.

Nothing else is popping to mind.

Occasionally, A&H Gourmet Seafood in Bethesda has skate. But I can't think of anyplace that always has it.

You're getting old.  A couple of years ago you, the Misses, and I went looking for Slavins during one of our eating adventures and discovered it was closed.

A little farther afield, but the Wegmans in Woodbridge had skate the last time I was there (Christmas eve).  Great price for it too............I don't remember the actual price but it was much, much, MUCH cheaper than all the other fish.

Maybe it wasn't Slavins I was looking for, Miss Smarty-pants.

Was actually hoping for something out Old Town way.

Oh, well.  Black Salt scrounged up just enough skate after all and so we were able to make this, which I try to make every year when the markets have both grapes and cherry tomatoes.  It's spectacular, btw, y'all should give it a whirl if you can hunt down a wing or two.

In Old Town, should you find yourself in that neck of the woods, I'd try WF or Balducci's.
