bettyjoan
I just couldn't let the Virginians have all the fun. Seriously, Jason and I have been craving some social time, and it would be great to meet up with some of our DR neighbors in NoMa, H Street, Atlas District, Trinidad, etc. Anyone up for a get-together sometime soon? DonRocks
I just couldn't let the Virginians have all the fun. Seriously, Jason and I have been craving some social time, and it would be great to meet up with some of our DR neighbors in NoMa, H Street, Atlas District, Trinidad, etc. Anyone up for a get-together sometime soon? Given this *brilliant* name someone thought up, it seems fitting to begin at the Wonderland Ballroom. Okay, so it's in Columbia Heights, but there's always Toki Underground (where the rabbit hole leads Alice), or (The Red) Queen Vic. "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll from "Through The Looking Glass" (1871) 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. "Beware the Jabberwock, my son The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!" He took his vorpal sword in hand; Long time the manxome foe he sought"” So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought. And, as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. "And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" He chortled in his joy. 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. bettyjoan
Even though this thread hasn't gotten a lot of love, if you live/work in the H Street area and are interested, please save the date on December 11 - Jason and I will be hosting a charity happy hour at The Big Board, with all proceeds benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are still working out a few details, but I just wanted to plant the bug in people's ears. I'll post a specific event thread when everything is finalized. Thanks!
