City Paper reports that Derek Brown’s The Passenger, which also houses his cocktail mecca Columbia Room, and Hogo, brother Tom Brown’s neighboring tiki bar, will likely soon be forced out of their space. The landlord, Douglas Development, is planning an office building at the corner of 7th Street and New York Avenue that will require the bars and adjacent retailers to vacate the site during construction. The project is tentatively set to begin in May.

Didn't we have this scare last year, too?

From what I understand, and I could be wrong, the developer is supposed to give them 4 months notice, and that has not been received yet. Last year I seem to remember them having an alternate plan in store in case it happened, but I could be mis-remembering.
