DonRocks Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 This is enough to make me want to buy a dog. 1
ktmoomau Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 My dog and his friend had a similar incident getting pepperoni rolls out of a metal bread box on the countertop of our rental house. He also stole my husband's chic-fil-a sandwich off the coffee table (I thought it was stupid he left it there), his bowl of chicken casserole off the coffee table (when we had to run and grab his car from the truck) and various other things.
zoramargolis Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I have known a couple of beagles in the past, and their reputation and my experience with them is that the one in the video is unusually intelligent. A more typical beagle would just sit under the toaster oven and bark at it. 2
Toogs Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 This is enough to make me want to adopt a dog. Fixed it for you, awesome video.
DonRocks Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 Fixed it for you, awesome video. You clearly aren't an early Monkees fan. (Note the homage to Jerry Samuels at the very end. Interestingly, both songs were recorded in July, 1966.)
The Hersch Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I have known a couple of beagles in the past, and their reputation and my experience with them is that the one in the video is unusually intelligent. A more typical beagle would just sit under the toaster oven and bark at it. The dog in the video is clearly a mixed breed, not a pure-bred beagle, which may account for its intelligence. A very clever dog. I can't imagine any dog I've ever known figuring out that trick of pushing the chair over to the counter and using it to climb up. Much as I love dogs, they're mostly not very smart.
ktmoomau Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Apparently you have never owned dogs descendant from Poodle varieties... my bichon is super smart and can figure out things like that. He figured out step on trash can lids, then the motion sensor lids. Matthew had a collie/golden mix and a cocker that were always figuring out how to get in or out of things. Dachshunds work in teams to accomplish goals and can be really sneaky and smart. It really depends on breed though. Max is worse when he has a big dog with some muscle to help him accomplish these feats.
