TheMatt Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Looks like City Kitchen has opened in the old Pepi's Pizza Box in the Trade Center Plaza on Pickett in Alexandria. This is the strip mall with the Mediterranean Bakery, Home Depot, and post office. They have a website and, according to their Yelp profile, they are part of the "Fat City Restaurant Group" that includes Shooter McGee's and TJ Stone's. From the menu, it looks to be American and quite a bit fancier than the ol' Pepi's. (They don't seem to sell lottery tickets, for example.)
Escoffier Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 The first two Yelp "reviews" read like propaganda. Who's going to take the plunge and actually try this place?
meatwad Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 The first two Yelp "reviews" read like propaganda. Who's going to take the plunge and actually try this place? Why? Restaurant groups and concepts. Hospitality by spreadsheet is never a surprise. Will keep looking through holes in the wall. I know there are young guns out there who will be bringing restaurants to their neighbrhoods - can't all be the next star.
StarStraf Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 We ate there last week. He had the Carne Asada special, I had the Wild mushroom pizza. Big microbrew selection (bottles). Nice layout, plenty of parking, close to the house. Sturdy chairs / tables and large tables so don't feel smashed in. Friendly staff, general manager stopped by to chat. Not going to be in high rotation but will be in our rotation since close and good food but nothing great. I say if you are in the area give a try I like it more then the others of the restaurant group.
