bettyjoan
Even though I missed it (community garden meeting that night), when I saw all of the tributes afterward I definitely felt a warm fuzzy. By all accounts, Brooks has been AMAZING to his teammates and fans over the years, and it's just a shame that his contract made it basically cost-prohibitive to keep him at this point. lovehockey
As I said to Bettyjoan on Friday at the Caps' game, I feel bad for him. He's near the end of his career and got traded from a team that for all intents and purposes should be in the Stanley Cup final to the worst team in the league. Furthermore, it's Toronto. Playing for any Canadian team is playing in a pressure cooker, and TO is more so because they haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1967. In addition, while he could walk around DC with a good amount of anonymity, he won't in TO. Depending on how this season ends up, Winnik hit the jackpot.
