A litte star power to boost the appeal of a restaurant. not that it needs it, but fascinating nonetheless.

Jeff Koons is a native of York county, and a graduate of Dover High School. Amazing people got their start in our little town of York. I hope our dining scene is recognized as well too!!!

Jeff Koons is a big-name artist: one of the most famous living artists in both America and the entire world.

In fact, "Balloon Dog (Orange)" has established the record - which still stands - for "most money ever paid for an artwork by a living artist." On Nov 12, 2013, it sold for $58.4 million at a Christie's auction:

I thought he was best known for marrying a porn actress and depicting her/them in a variety of NSFW poses and media.

I keep trying not to think of him as an exploitative hack, but I'm having a hard time.  The fact that the New York Times Magazine has a two-page color ad every week for some new co-op being marketed as Russian oligarchs, hedge fund managers and international tax cheats that centers on an utterly banal Koons dancer (it's going to be in the courtyard, I suppose) doesn't help.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I'm going to ...

Go to 2:10 in the video, and listen to the artists he ticks off as being from Pennsylvania.

He didn't mention Mary Cassatt, who was *the* first person who came to my mind, and probably the most famous and influential artist ever to herald from Pennsylvania.

I'm not sure anyone will ever realize how big of a deal her omission was from this speech, but I do. even though I'm certain it was just an oversight, and an indicator that Koons is more of a modernist than a historian; I'm the opposite, so my first "reflex" was to think about Cassatt.

He sure seems like a nice guy.
