"Roger Federer Beats Stan Wawrinka To Reach Australian Open Final" on bbc.com Tune in to ESPN at 3am on Sunday! He might be up against Nadal. I got up this morning and watched the first four sets (although I knew the outcome before I began watching). Wawrinka (age 31) is a beast, but this tournament is destined to be The Final Showdown between The Legends: Federer (age 35) - Nadal (age 30) in the Men's Singles final; The Williams Sisters (ages 35 and 36) in the Women's Singles Final, and The Bryan Brothers (age 38) in the Men's Doubles Final. Something similar to this happened in the early aughts with Sampras (age 31) winning the U.S. Open in 2002, and Agassi (age 33) winning the Australian Open in 2003 - neither were "supposed" to win any more majors. Enjoy this - it will almost surely be the last time you ever see this group of players in a final round.
Steve R.
I am absolutely overjoyed about how this is shaping up. I'd love to see Federer & Venus win, but I'll be more than ok if Nadal gets in & wins &/or if Serena makes history. Hopefully, this has been a turning point for CoCo V., as I'd love to see her keep up this level of play & make a mark.

MarkS
That is the luck of the draw though I am surprised they didn't play both Men's Semis on same day. I am sure Roger is enjoying that extra day of rest.
DonRocks
This amazing tournament absolutely deserves its own thread. I'm about to start watching a recorded version of Federer-Nadal XXXV - I know who won, but it doesn't matter: This is like reading Shakespeare. This is probably the last time this confluence of events will come together: Serena Williams d. Venus Williams in the Women's Final Roger Federer v. Rafael Nadal in the Men's Final Bob and Mike Bryan in the Men's Doubles Finals Leander Paes and Martina Hingis playing Mixed Doubles John McEnroe announcing the match The finals being played in Rod Laver Arena, with Rod Laver in attendance It just doesn't get any better than this for a tennis fan - this is ridiculous:
