Xi'an Gourmet Meet-Up in Rockville - Sunday, Mar 17, 2019 at 6 PM

Recommended Posts

Would anyone be interested in meeting up at Xi'an Gourmet in Rockville to explore the menu? http://www.xiangourmetmd.com/menu.aspx

I'd prefer a weekend because this is a bit of a drive for me in weeknight traffic, but could maybe do a weeknight if it were a bit on the later side. This coming weekend (March 9-10) is totally open for me, but after that I have a moderate preference for Sunday evenings.

I can't do this weekend, but if you decide on another Sunday evening, I would likely be in, potentially with Hubby.

I can likely make a Sunday evening as well and may have one or two tag along with me as well.

There are three Sundays in the second half of March: March 17 (St Patricks Day), 24, and 31. Any of these work for me - are there any preferred / bad weekends in that set?

I might be able to scrounge up another person or two.

17th works for me!  The 24th would, as well.  I am trying to move my Brother's birthday to the 31st, so I can take the sfolgina private pasta class (don't tell him that).

17th works for us too.  2 adults and I can read/speak Chinese if that ends up being helpful.

Why don't we aim for the Sunday the 17th of March, then, say 6:30 pm? or would later be better?

Let’s get a headcount, make reservations if possible and work out a proposed menu.  Let’s focus on their specialties.

any of the cold stir mushrooms
chengdu bean jelly
spicy trotters

pita w/ beef and lamb (or beef soup)

shaanxi flavor mixed veg

I'm happy to try all those.  We can add more dishes when we get a final headcount.

I'm +2, with the caveat that one + does not eat pork products and may opt to order separately depending on how hard it is to avoid pork.

In, possibly +1 or +2.

I've been here a half dozen times. The spicy trotters are freaking amazing.

Me with a +1 for now, if we have room, I may have someone else who may want to tag along, or my Mom could be with us at that time and then it would be me +2, will let you know if that happens, ASAP.

Ok, I have an additional +1. So by my count, that is 10 with a possible additional 3, but with one person who might order separately.  My inclination is to call the restaurant later this week with a count range (10-12), and then check back in again with a solid number on Sunday morning.

If we end up on the 10 side, we might fit at one of the round tables with a lazy susan (looking at photos of the interior on google)? With a larger number, maybe two of the round tables or some of the smaller tables pushed together (are there only 4-tops or are there some 6-tops?).

I've been twice with large-ish groups, and they were very responsive when we called in advance. They'll make it work.
