Tweaked
Bánh Mì Saigon has won many accolades from the NYC foodie press. Robert (The Other) Sietsema included it in his Sandwich of the Week column on July 16, 2019. And indeed it's pretty tasty banh mi. But the bread. It's basically a standard issue sub roll, a little dense and chewy. And despite their claim that they are served on a toasted baquette, nothing was toasted with my sandwich. I'd probably rate the effort higher if they nailed the bread better. The shrimp summer rolls were good, densely packed with lots of herbs. A fridge case holds some other Vietnamese products and they sell things like shrimp cakes. Plus there is a jewelry counter. Stools and a ledge serve for seating at the front of the store.
