Tweaked
Ruth Asawa is having a moment. As a teen, Asawa and her family were forced into Japanese-American internment camps during World War II where she received art lessons from Japanese-American artists who had worked for The Walt Disney Company. Later she attended the Black Mountain College art program. In August, the U.S. Postal Service will be releasing a series of commemorative stamps featuring her work. She is also being featured in the New York Times Magazine: The Japanese-American Sculptor Who, Despite Persecution, Made Her Mark Locally, I know that Glenstone has several of her wire sculptures.
