Cooking Classes in the DC area

I'm looking for classes for me and a few friends, and I was surprised that I didn't see a list compiling the different places to take general cooking classes in the area. I know there are separate topics for a few of these. Here's what I've found so far:

L'Academie de Cuisine: http://www.lacademie.com

Sur La Table in Virginia: http://www.surlatable.com/category/culinary.do

Stratford University: http://www.stratford.edu/?page=culinaryworkshops

Taste DC: http://www.tastedc.com

Am I overlooking anything obvious? Any rec centers that offer cooking classes on a regular basis?

Some counties have adult education programs that include cooking classes. For example, there's

Fairfax Adult and Community Education -- http://www.fcps.edu/DIS/OACE/ You don't have to be a resident of Fairfax to sign up for their classes.

There's also Arlington Public Schools adult education -- http://www.arlington.k12.va.us/instruct/ctae/adult_ed/ Nonresidents pay more for the class.

I've only taken cake decorating type classes from them. I don't know how the other culinary classes are.

La Cuisine in Old Town also offers a few classes such as cookie decorating (which I found to be very worthwhile if you're into cookie decorating). http://www.lacuisineus.com/events.php

And here's the WashPost article on local cooking classes. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...7090401753.html

Am I the only one who would have liked to have seen the layout in print, as well as having the resource online? I was pretty disappointed, as I was looking forward to seeing the upcoming classes as I opened the paper on our ride to work in the morning. Plus, I like to get the overview of what is being listed, which I find difficult to see on the 'net.

If you're out 270, Frederick Community College offers recreational cooking classes (I teach there). Also, if anybody else lives here on the rural edge of suburbia, there are recreational cooking classes on offer via the Jefferson County (WV) Schools Adult Education program. I'm taking this quarter off from there due to health problems, but there's another lady who teaches detailed Indian cooking lessons. I've talked to many people who have taken her classes and they're supposed to be pretty solid.

Check county school adult education programs and community colleges wherever you live. I got the teaching gigs just by calling around and seeing who offered classes and then sending my resume to the program director.

I just tried to read the list on the website and gave up in frustration. It's impossible to do a quick scan--I have to scroll through everything! And I would never have known it existed if not for this thread. I read last week's Food section and didn't notice a mention of it, but I'm not the most thorough reader.
