apples
Today's Washington Post article on chowder has conjured up a wicked craving. Where have you had the best (metro-accessible) chowder in the DC area?

Mark Slater
Today's Washington Post article on chowder has conjured up a wicked craving. Where have you had the best (metro-accessible) chowder in the DC area? Zoom over to the bar at Kinkeads. Don't miss the fried Ipswich clams, either. Joe H
Totally agree-Kinkead's is outstanding.
Dave Pressley
Not really close to a Metro and not in DC (sorry!), but Farrah Olivia in Old Town runs a different chowder every day on their menu. I had a Black Cod Chowder last week that was everything I wanted it to be: soulful, hot-but-not-boiling and a perfect veloute consistency. (I had it on the day of the ice storm, so it especially hit the spot.)
8Track
You will scoff, but I really like Legal's chowder. Oceanaire's is good too.
edenman
I just went to La Prima for lunch, and the Manhattan Clam Chowder caught my eye. The soup and the calzone I got to accompany it were both terrible. This is the first time I've ventured away from sandwiches at La Prima, and I doubt I'll stray from the path again. Should've convinced them that Kinkead's was a good idea, being right next to La Prima.
