My condolences to your friend. My unfortunate brother lives there. There seems to be only one standout restaurant in Crofton, but it really is quite good-- it's almost worth the trip from DC.

Try the carpaccio! They also make a mean steak and their fish dishes are usually darn tasty.

Christopher's isn't the only thing in that area. Well, I guess I'm emcompassing Gambrills with all the stuff at Waugh Chapel, especially Coalfire Pizza and south at the Blue Dolphin (great crab cakes).

Is it worth the trouble to drink light beer, or even take the time, or waist the space in your beer selection to please the crowd that likes to fuss about calories. If so, what do you recommend for a "light" beer

Do what the German's do. They have something called a Radler, which is regular beer mixed half and half with a lemon lime type drink. I would suggest 7 up or Sprite. Especially tastes good on a hot summer day.
