  1. I've been to Santiago twice on short trips and ended up eating at the same places (by accident) both times. One is a steak place called Eladio's ( 3 locations and I don't know which one we went to) and one is a seafood restaurant in the market called Donde Augusto. Both very good and recommended by my Chilean family members. If the Hyatt still has a Thai restaurant, that's good too. The central market is fun with a lot of places to get fresh seafood.

Anything with avocado on it is good, and I was especially fond of the Churrasco sandwich- thin sliced steak, cheese, avocado and mayo.

I will be on a 10 day business trip in Santiago, Chile at the end of the month. The thought of meals in a Crowne Plaza hotel is totally unappealing. Any suggestions for places to eat around the city? All price points appreciated, safe neighborhoods a must.

  2. I lived recently in Addis for two years and just got back from a short visit. My favorites:

In the Sheraton, the Indian restaurant is very good and the pool restaurant has some nice dishes- the hummus with meat was my favorite.

    For Ethiopian-

Fasika Restaurant off of Bole Road has great wots and a traditional singing/dancing show in the evenings.

Ambassador Park is in the Ambassador Theater area and is a pretty garden setting with inexpensive local food.

    For Italian/Pizza-

Castelli's in the Piazza is a classic. Expensive, though.

Pizzeria Italia is across from the National Museum (near Blue Tops) and serves good thin-crust pies

    Indian-

    Ajanta in Bole/Rwanda for curries

Sangam on Bole for naan and tandoori dishes

    Other-

Aladdin off of Bole (turn at the sign for Japan residence)for Armenian/Lebanese

Beer Garden Inn near Bole Airport for beer. The food was...interesting

In Lalibela, Gonder and Axum there is much more limited selection. Hope you like injera!
