Washington Posts critic praised their Goat Biryani to no end in the original Fairfax location and that got to Asad's head. All that press made him overconfident and executed without a plan and without a reality check.
Had food at 1947 as well and have to say the experience is similar to what Don describes with London Curry House.

Its not really a fast-casual restaurant (if by that you mean chipotle, Panera...). It is a proper sit down with table service and are waited upon.

If paneer is homemade you will know it, it is extremely soft, crumbly and airy. The way you describe it definitely is not and resembles the taste of purchased frozen panner bricks you get at any indian store. In my opinion paneer does not freeze well, it is something to be enjoyed made fresh within hours.
